It’s not often I go to London. It has to be something really special to get me out of the Midlands, onto a train and into the Big Smoke. The Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards promised to be worth it!
Since I started with AVN I have been so proud of the way we are able to support people to run their businesses so that they are able to spend more time doing what they love, with the people they love and giving back to their communities and causes dear to their hearts. We were so proud to be finalists in the Business Enabler of the Year category.
The night itself was spectacular. With the grand ballroom all decked out with balloons, sparkles and lights, the tables awaited the hundreds of guests who attended the ceremony. There were photo opportunities at every turn, and Kerry and I made sure to be in as many photos as possible! We spent quite some time admiring all of the outfits worn by the other guests and chatting to them about their businesses.
Glitz, glam and stars!
Once we had taken our places at the tables, we heard speeches from all of the judges plus entertainment from Rory Bremner and Deborah Stevenson. Sir Trevor McDonald was compere for the evening, announcing the winners of all 17 categories. I was especially pleased that I got to meet him and take a photo with him!
Even though we didn’t win an award, it was an honour to be able to represent AVN at this ceremony. And of course, to be in the room with some of the best of British Business.

It has been an honour and a privilege to witness such an astounding calibre of finalists for this year’s awards, with all winners thoroughly deserving of their commendations.”
Congratulations to all the winners, especially BigChange, who won the Business Enabler of the Year category.
